When Life Knocks You Off-Balance, Fall into the Humor Safety Net

"When life knocks us off balance, humor is our best defense to deflect the crippling effects of stress. Prepared humor statements and strategies equip us with an even more powerful offense so we can push past our difficulties and quickly restore our capability." -Lois McElravy

No one is immune from dealing with:

  • pressures and demands of work and home
  • everyday disruptions
  • unexpected difficulties
  • uncontrollable influences or
  • constant change.

It doesn't matter:

  • how knowledgeable you are in your chosen profession
  • the educational degrees you have earned
  • nor the experience you have acquired.

None of those things matter if you lack the ability to:

  • reset stressful emotions and
  • restore your ability to think clearly.

When you feel stressed-out, a disconnect takes place between the left and right sides of your brain - which is why you can't think clearly, you act clumsy, and feel off-balance. Humor triggers the laughter that reconnects your whole brain, stimulates mental alertness and sparks creative thinking.

When life knocks you off balance, humor is the safety net that:

  • cushions your fall
  • lifts you back up and
  • points you in a new direction.

Program Outcomes and Benefits -
